Day 2: meaning behind blog name

So my blog name comes from those Verizon commercials where that "Verizon guy" ( you know the "dorky" one with glasses and the dark jacket and khakis) always ends the commercials with "Can you hear me now?"

Well my dad and I had a little inside joke going where we would randomly say "Can you hear me now?" because of those commercials and it just kind of stuck

Now you know:)

Day 1: introduce, recent picture, 15 interesting facts

So day 1 of the 30 day challenge. For starters I will introduce myself (seems only appropriate) my name is Kristen Chandler Hiott, here's a pic of me with Ben and Cary at the Auburn vs Clemson game:
so 15 interesting facts:
1) well to start with the picture, I love Auburn football (Auburn anything really)! I am so blessed I was able to go to all the home games this past season (well minus homecoming and Louisiana-Monroe), thanks for that Ben!
2) let me reiterate, I love sports (more than most girls), ESPN is my homepage :)
3) I really do like school, and after my graduate program is up in 3 years I might have to go back to school and get my Phd (maybe I am just avoiding the real world)
4) I have a twin brother who is a marine, Oorah! This is a recent picture of Austin in Okinawa, Japan

5) I have 2 dogs (Madison and Parker), and I miss them so much while I am at school

6) In my spare time one thing I like to do is jigsaw puzzles (gosh I'm a big dork)
7) reduced fat oreos and peanut butter are one of my guilty pleasures (Jess;)
8) I dont race anymore, but I was always consider myself a "runner"
9) I like the beach, but I hate the sand
10) I am the exact opposite of an adventure seeker ( you couldn't pay me enough to sky dive)
11) my sorority has made me a better person, KKG love:)
12) I'm a homebody, it's a little ridiculous at times
13) I sometimes think I have seasonal affect disorder, I am just much happier when its sunny!!
14) I would take sour/sweet candy over chocolate any day
15) I'm a follower and a firm believer in God, and I can't wait to see what he has in store for my life!

Now you know a little more about me:)

I love Christmas cards

The Hiott family Christmas cards are finally done and ready to be mailed-- maybe if you're luck you'll get one:)-- and even though the whole process can be tedious at times I still love Christmas cards, there's just something about them. It is my pledge to have them every year!:)

As for tomorrow I can finally stop procrastinating (hopefully) Christmas shopping and get most of it done. But more importantly I have decided that it's only necessary that I partake in the thirty day blog thing where each day you tell something different about yourself, heres the schedule I will follow by:

On a random note: if you've never seen Two and a Half Men, you're missing out-- it's absolutely hilarious-- it's all the rage at the Hiott house (well except for my dad, but he's just in denial).

First-time blogger

I have wanted to create a blog for awhile, and finally I have sat down to do it! I must give a shout out to Amy Shaffer because I was reading her blog last night and it was so stinkin cute that I was inspired to make one for myself.

I think this is a great time in my life to have a blog because I am officially on my own in Rock Hill, SC away from my family and friends and I get so busy with grad school stuff that I barely have any time to call anyone to catch up (plus if I were to be honest I really don't like talking on the phone-- I really hope that doesn't offend anyone-- I find it so impersonal, but I know its the best thing when you are away from your loved ones, or really maybe that's skype now)

So here it is December 15th and I cant believe I already have my first semester of grad school over with, I can honestly say time has never flown by so fast! For those of you who don't know I am a first year graduate student in the school psychology program at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC (and for those of you who aren't sure where Rock Hill is located it's about 20 minutes south of Charlotte, NC). This semester I took four classes and also had an assistanship through Head Start (Head Start is a nation wide program for preschoolers from low-income families that prepares these kids to enter Kindergarten to be on track with their same-aged peers) which I spent 20 hours peer week at on top of my 4 classes (needless to say I was busy).

Now I am home and preparing to enjoy the holiday season with my family (minus my brother Austin who is in the Marines and stationed in Japan-love you bosty!) and just rest before the inception of 2011! I look forward to becoming a blogger, and I am excited to update you with my events and thoughts as I traverse through this amazing life God has blessed me with!
